Our Girls' Soccer team is looking forward to their best year ever, as former All-American Habil Humieda takes the reigns of The Elon School soccer program. After earning a bid to the state tournament during the 2010 campaign, the Commodores have their hopes set on Triad Athletic Conference and NCISAA 1A competitiveness.
"We are truly honored to have Habil Humieda back to coach both boys' and girls' teams this season," says athletic director Kevin Primus. "Habil is not only brings a wealth of experience as the former coach of the Williams High boys' and girls' teams, he literally brings a world of insight as a National Team player at the youth and adult levels in the Sudan, and as a former All-American at his alma mater Barton College."
The girls' program is also returning eight starters, including All-Conference and All-State stand-out Caroline Kowalski. "With systematic instruction on the technical aspects of the game from Habil," says Primus, "and an emphasis on functional training for performance from UNC soccer's Tait Yoder, our girls will be in a great position to improve individually and as a team."
